Inspiring Young Minds Through the Heroes in Our Community Programme

Peninsula Private School’s Primary 1 to 3 students recently engaged in the “Heroes in Our Community” programme, an initiative designed to deepen their understanding of essential community roles. The young learners enthusiastically explored various professions, donning costumes to represent their chosen community helpers, and delivered presentations that highlighted the significance of these roles.

Educators emphasise that introducing children to community helpers fosters a sense of belonging and teamwork. It also equips them with knowledge about who to approach in emergencies, enhancing their safety awareness.

Parents and teachers collaborated to bring this programme to life, providing support and resources that enriched the students’ learning experiences. Such partnerships are instrumental in creating meaningful educational opportunities that extend beyond traditional classroom settings.

By participating in activities that highlight the contributions of community helpers, students not only gain knowledge but also develop respect and appreciation for those who serve the community. This aligns with the school’s commitment to instilling values of kindness and respect in its students.

Parents can take pride in their children’s active engagement in this programme, knowing it contributes to their social and moral development. Understanding the roles of community helpers prepares students to be informed and compassionate members of society.

This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):

  • SDG 4: Quality Education
  • SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
  • SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
