Turning Ideas Into Impact: Students Win Gold at WYIE 2026

Our secondary students recently achieved outstanding success at the World Young Inventors Exhibition (WYIE) 2026, bringing home a Gold Medal for their innovative project, “Beep Buddy”. The exhibition was held on 18 and 19 May 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) as part of ITEX’26, the International Invention, Innovation, and Technology Competition & Exhibition.

WYIE, which incorporates the Asian Young Inventors Exhibition (AYIE) and the Malaysian Young Inventors Exhibition (MYIE), provides young innovators with an international platform to showcase creative ideas, technological solutions, and problem-solving abilities.

Representing PPS at the exhibition were Tan Sze Lynn, Olivia Janna A/P Thiyaga Rajan, Gwenhwyvar Estella Royston, Bernice Yap Zi Yuan, Mithraan A/L S Sekhar, and Leong Zi Yin. Together, the students developed “Beep Buddy”, an innovative homework reminder system designed to help students complete homework on time while encouraging greater responsibility and consistency in learning habits.

The project features a portable reminder device connected to a system accessible by students, teachers, and parents, allowing everyone to stay informed about homework schedules. Developed using a circuit system and compact casing, the device includes a beeping reminder, button controls, and sensor features to help students manage their daily academic responsibilities more effectively.

Beyond the technical aspects of the invention, the project reflected creativity, teamwork, and the students’ ability to identify practical challenges faced by learners and transform them into meaningful solutions.

At Peninsula Private School, innovation is nurtured not only through academic learning but through opportunities that encourage students to think critically, collaborate confidently, and apply their ideas to real-world situations.

The achievement at WYIE 2026 stands as a proud milestone for the students and a meaningful reminder of what young minds can accomplish when curiosity, guidance, and purpose come together.
