Survival, Teamwork and Leadership: PPS Secondary Camp 2026

Leadership is not always learnt by sitting in a classroom. Sometimes, it emerges when students are challenged to make decisions, work with others and keep going when things do not go according to plan.

From 28 to 30 July 2026, secondary students from Peninsula Private School took part in a three-day, two-night Survival and Leadership Camp at Taman Botani Negara, Shah Alam. The programme combined outdoor adventure with experiential learning, giving students opportunities to strengthen their confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership skills.

Conducted by Mudtrekkerz, the camp featured leadership workshops, team-building activities, outdoor challenges and nature-based learning. Students were encouraged to think strategically, communicate effectively and work together towards shared goals throughout the programme.

The experience included a range of activities such as raft building, flying fox, scavenger hunts, paintball and jungle trekking. Each challenge required students to step outside their usual routines, adapt to unfamiliar situations and rely on one another to complete the task at hand.

Raft building, for example, called for more than practical skills. Students had to exchange ideas, divide responsibilities and make decisions as a team. Other outdoor activities tested their courage and perseverance while encouraging them to remain focused and supportive of their peers.

These moments also allowed students to discover different sides of themselves. Some stepped forward to lead, while others learnt the importance of listening, communicating clearly and contributing effectively as part of a team.

More importantly, the camp reinforced that leadership is not simply about taking charge. It also involves responsibility, resilience, cooperation and the ability to respond constructively when faced with a challenge.

Over the three days, students learnt through experience, strengthened friendships and created shared memories beyond their usual school environment. The combination of adventure and teamwork gave them a practical setting in which to develop skills that can be carried into both school life and future challenges.

The PPS Secondary Camp 2026 was ultimately more than an outdoor excursion. It was an opportunity for students to test themselves, support one another and understand that confidence and leadership are often built by taking on challenges one step at a time.
