Small Steps, Stronger Habits: Making Learning More Engaging

Good learning habits are not built overnight. They develop through the small but consistent actions students take each day to practise, participate and keep improving.

On 6 August 2026, Peninsula Private School students had the opportunity to experience a different approach to academic practice through Ri9 – Ready in 9, a gamified learning platform designed to make everyday academic activities more engaging.

Through short academic challenges, students can build daily streaks, earn points and track their progress on leaderboards. By introducing elements of challenge and friendly competition, the experience encourages students to stay involved while making consistent practice more rewarding.

The experience begins with an on-campus activation, where students complete a short academic challenge before continuing independently over the following six days.

During this period, participating students take on additional challenges in their own time while building their streaks and tracking their progress. Their participation and scores are recorded throughout the challenge, giving them a visible way to see how consistency can contribute to progress.

Beyond points and rankings, the experience reinforces an important lesson: improvement often comes from showing up and making an effort consistently.

The challenge concludes with a recognition session, where top performers are celebrated and prizes are presented. Participating students also receive certificates in recognition of their involvement.

Experiences such as Ri9 complement classroom learning by giving students new ways to engage with academic practice while encouraging greater independence, participation and consistency.

At Peninsula Private School, education is not only about what students learn, but also about developing the habits and mindset that help them continue growing.

Sometimes, meaningful progress begins with one small challenge at a time.
