Nurturing Confidence and Connection Through a Hands-On Baking Experience

Starting secondary school is a significant milestone, and creating opportunities for students to feel comfortable and connected early on is essential. As part of this transition, Secondary 1 students took part in a hands-on baking workshop where they worked together to prepare cottage pie.

The session was designed as an engaging ice breaker, giving students the chance to interact, communicate, and collaborate in a relaxed setting. Working in small groups, they followed steps, shared responsibilities, and supported one another throughout the process.

While learning how to prepare a dish, students also developed important skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. These shared experiences helped build confidence and encouraged students to form new friendships as they settled into their new school environment.

Hands-on activities like this play an important role in helping students adjust to secondary school life. By learning together beyond the classroom, students are able to build a sense of belonging and grow more confident in their surroundings.

At Peninsula Private School, meaningful learning extends beyond academics. Experiences such as the Baking Workshop support students in developing both practical skills and personal growth, helping them navigate their secondary school journey with confidence.
